CSCCM is always looking for exceptional and highly motivated PhD, MS(R), and postdoctoral candidates interested in working at the interface of scientific computing, computational mechanics, and artificial intelligence.
Our current research thrusts are agentic AI for scientific discovery, scientific foundation models, and deployable intelligence for engineering and scientific systems. Within these broad themes, we work on scientific machine learning, neural operators, physics-informed AI, uncertainty quantification, inverse problems, digital twins, reliability analysis, and data-driven computational mechanics.
Students from Applied Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Materials Science, and related disciplines are encouraged to apply.
An ideal candidate should have strong fundamentals, curiosity for research, and basic programming skills. Prior experience with Python, machine learning, optimization, or scientific computing will be useful, but a strong motivation to learn is equally important.
Students can join CSCCM either through the Department of Applied Mechanics, IIT Delhi, or through the Yardi School of Artificial Intelligence, IIT Delhi, depending on their background and research interests.
Interested candidates may directly contact Dr. Souvik Chakraborty at souvik@am.iitd.ac.in. Please include your CV, academic transcripts, a brief statement of research interests, and any relevant publications, project reports, GitHub links, or writing samples. Early contact is encouraged, especially for candidates planning to apply in upcoming admission cycles.
Formal admission and selection will follow the rules and procedures of IIT Delhi.
